Stray x Exit Records x Matchsticks EP Promo Mix

Here is a studio mix by Stray, put together to showcase his new EP, released on October 28th via Exit Records.

J Fogel aka Stray made his first appearance on Exit Records in 2011 with the musically rich masterpiece ‘Pushed’ which featured on the Mosaic Vol 1 mixed artists LP and was a great insight into his production ability and an indication that he was a talent about to flourish. His second outing on Exit was the mighty ‘LA Zoom’ on Mosaic Vol 2 which was one of the most anticipated tracks on the album and set the tone for many of his current productions with the fusion of footwork, jungle and dnb foundations.

stray_matchsticks_epThe ‘Matchsticks’ EP is his first full release on Exit and comes in the form of a four track 12″ with heavy support from DJs such as  Giles Peterson, Mark Pritchard, Om Unit, Machine Drum Alix Perex, Annie Mac, Lenzman and dBridge amongst many more.  Picking up from where ‘LA Zoom’ left off we stay in the same vein with ‘Prof Popper’ ‘Dropping Bombs’ and his collab with Fracture on ‘Bounce That’. All of which are loaded with energy and have been going off in DJ sets across the globe over the last few months. The title track ‘Matchsticks’ is a Dillaesque hip hop Instrumental which again shows us that Stray’s musical ambition is certainly not limited to any fixed style and rounds off the EP nicely.

Rawtekk – Sprouted and Formed LP

rawtekk_sprouted_and_formedRELEASE DATE: 8th July 2013

“Sprouted and Formed” is the inaugural album from enthralling electronic duo Rawtekk. Hailing from Hamburg in Germany, Rawtekk initially caught the attention of Med School with the sublime “Snowflakes” which features on the 2011 edition of the label’s popular “New Blood” compilation series.

Rawtekk will also be a familiar name to discerning fans of techy/neuro drum & bass, having released on labels such as Subtitles and Noisia’s Division Recordings. Past collaborations include tracks with fellow Hamburg resident and close friend Phace (Neosignal).

Fast forward to 2013 and Stefan and Christine return to Med School with their first ever full-length long-player which effortlessly combines precision engineering with elegant song-writing sensibilities.

Opener “A Magnanimous Kind’s Will” is a beautiful, dreamy utterance with a distinctive take on dubstep, whilst elsewhere we have eerie, melancholy tracks such as “Anywhere” juxtaposed with introspective drum & bass cuts like “Photone Recruits” and the spaced-out beatless melodies of “Ventricle”.
