Each single hints proudly at Oliver Yorke’s classically trained genius, with darkly orchestrated basslines picking at your senses with menacing intent. He’s a producer originally from West London, and his background oozes through each record, with the same allure as any drum and bass track of the same calibre. Don’t expect euphoric vocal samples or stifling synth layered breaks. Instead you’re introduced to the subgenre underworld which has ruled the capital city since its first appearance.
The eight years which Yorke has taken to fine tune his production skills are quite obvious in this next release. ‘Digital Native’ opens with an almost overwhelming concoction of layers, each one building to a crescendo which pushes you fast forward into a relentless tempo. It’s difficult not to be overcome by such a carefully manipulated placement of sounds.
