Global Friends 001: Bredren

outlook_festival_bredrenOutlook Festivals new series of mixes “Global Friends” gets kicked off by the exciting project Bredren.

Bredren is a collaboration between the dubstep duo Requake and one member of the Belgian drum ‘n’ bass duo Orphans. The three met each other at a local DJ contest in Belgium in 2009. Back then, Adrien and Sebastien (Requake) had not yet started DJ’ing or making music but were both heavily into drum ‘n’ bass. Not long after meeting the Orphans guys, they decided it was time to have a go at DJ’ing. Requake was born. It wasn’t long until both of them started to get intrigued by dubstep. Sebastien picked up production and started making dubstep tunes at home. This is all history and right now, having released numerous tunes on labels such as Subway, Dubstar and Bassclash, Requake will be familiar to anyone who knows their dubstep.

In the meantime, the Requake guys had become good friends with Dieter (Orphans). They decided to forge a new collaboration between them under the guise “Bredren”, focusing mainly on the deeper and more experimental side of drum ‘n bass. The boys

Loadstar – Future Perfect LP

ram_loadstar_future_perfect_lpFamed for one of the decade’s biggest tracks to date, ‘Link To The Past’, this May Loadstar have flipped the switch to link us forward. Hot on the heels of Rene LaVice’s debut ‘Insidious’, Ram Records are proud to deliver their next explosive debut album: Loadstar’s ‘Future Perfect’

Big business since 2010: the duo previously known as Xample & Lomax have developed an infallible reputation in drum & bass and beyond. With Radio 1 playlist credits and remix work on some of the biggest names in the game – Example, Rudimental, Ed Sheeran, Chase & Status and Wolfgang Gartner to name but a few – the Bristol-based partnership has showcased versatility, excitement and the perfect amount of unpredictability on each and every release.

‘Future Perfect’ showcases this broad, bold party palette in way they’ve never expressed before… And it’s evident from the opening seconds of the album. Toe-to-toe with white hot MC Scrufizzer, ‘Do You Feel Me’ snaps and shakes with the energy and attitude of Prodigy and Dizzee collabo. Grabbing you hook, line and sinker, it’s the perfect ignition for this epic 15-track journey. So strap up your seatbelts, hold on tight and watch the ride as we switch and slide across the styles with bass and consummate grace…

A true DJ at heart, Dutch DJ/producer Fre4knc (pronounced “frequency”) is seeing a rapid surge in popularity in 2013 after many years of solid devotion to promoting, DJing and producing DnB. His production name has become synonymous with raw, deep and techy drum & bass for the dancefloor.

Dabs – The Objection EP

Its E.P time again from Dispatch, this time with the release of the huge Objection E.P featuring two solo outings from Dabs alongside some killer colabs that include the production prowess of both Safire & Cern with the added bonus of Mako, DLR and Dispatch’s own Ant TC1 on remix duties.

The E.P confidently twists through a journey of atmospheric darkness with the tracks Objection, Inner Circle and the remix of Back and Forth providing Dispatches signature rolling deepness, with the track Hell Rose providing a perfect contrast of light with a combination of smooth pads and haunting vocal. Finishing off, Crunch Bag steps up the energy rate with a slab aimed squarely at key time dance floor movement, almost certainly a guaranteed floor destroyer.

Objection has featured on Friction’s BBC Radio 1 show on Ant TC1’s own guest mix whilst the DLR, Mako & Ant TC1’s remix of the Dispatch classic “Back & Forth” has been championed by the likes of Break, Survival, and Xtrah – again proving the EP’s worth and highlighting the tried and tested stamp of Dispatch quality.
